89 Pickup 7MGE engine Bad oil leak

So the other day, a friend of mine pointed out that my truck was leaking a little bit of oil. So popped the hood to check the oil levels, only to see that the right side of my engine bay was coated in engine oil. Checked the dip stick as well, and it showed that there was no oil in the engine. So I added new oil, and went back home. Talked to my father about the issue and he figured it might have been the crankshaft seal that was leaking.

Jump ahead to today, after coming out of the store, I noticed I had a giant puddle of oil under my truck again. Checked the dip stick, and had no oil again. Filled the engine with new oil again, and drove the truck back home. Bout 3/4 the way home, started to have thick white smoke coming out from under the hood. Ended up limping the truck home, hoping not to destroy anything. Popped the hood, and noticed that near the top of the engine on the right side had fresh oil still dripping out. Leading my father and I to think that it might not have been the crankshaft seal that went.

At this point, Im not really sure what the cause of my problem is now. Any help into my problem would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Truck was bought with the engine already installed by PO

Well it sounds like a valve cover leak, but... you have a 7mge in your truck and you don't know engines well enough to be able to find a leak?

I guess I should have mentioned, the 7mge wasnt actually put in by me. I ended up buying the truck with the engine already in it.

That makes a little more sense. Post some pictures and we'll see what we can do to help out.

There aren't a whole lot of people on here that know the 7MGE to be honest.

You might have more luck posting in a Toyota Supra forum since they will know the engine much better (even though it's in a pickup).
