88 runner auto with 99 runner rear end?

is this possible? I'm coming up on a complete 99 runner with all motor and susp in great condition. Learn that the 99 has lockers and wondering if this is a good idea. Please any input would really help.

If you are referring to the E-Locker (I had one in my '05 taco, it was great)you will need to wire it up, ORS makes a great harness that is straight forward:

Like abecedarian said the rear suspension is different, you will need to get some leaf spring perches to mount to other axle after you cut off the coil mounts

other thing to consider is that your current 88 axle is 58" wide
the '99 4runner axle is going to be 60.75" wide so you will need to run a 1.25" or 1.5" spacer on your front wheels to get the track width to match

Thanks for the reply, really good info, the ORS wiring harness seems like a dream come true. I will considering that. As for modifying the housing for lockers. I dont really know how, was looking for something plug in play with little mods. The leaf spring perches is what I need. The 99 4runner does have coil springs. How about drive shafts, would I have any issues those??
