88 p/u, trying to swap fuel pump by lifting bed, one bed nut just spins?
I’ve got all 4 on driver side loose. 3/4 of passenger side came right off. The furthest forward of the bed mounting bolts was double nutted with 19 mm nuts. The second one is just spinning and I can’t get enough pressure on the carriage type bolt with my finger to allow the nut to loosen..not much rust but enough hunk to where I can’t get it loose. Any ideas besides dropping the tank or cutting a hole in the bed to get at it from the top??
thanks so much Donnie |
im just going to be the first to say it. Drop the tank.
if i remember correctly its only 6 bolts, the skid comes off with the tank, remove a few hoses, undoo the whole fuel nozzle, it all drops easily. I dropped my tank with 2 galloons remaining with only a regular jack. re installing it is even easier then dropping it. |
I probably will end up just doing that, already have everything ready to lift the bed other than ONE nut so I figured I’d ask

Cut it off and replace the bolt!

Cut.
