88 Oil Pressure Sending Unit Confusion

88 4runner SR5, 3.0

Ordered an oil pressure sending unit (w/gauge type) off rockauto. Went to install it today, and the new one looks nothing like the old one: Here's what I found:

One on the left came off the truck, one on the right is what Rockauto sent me.

The gauge currently does not work, however when I start the truck it will "sweep" before returning to 0 oil pressure.

The one I pulled looks like the ones that are used for the oil pressure light (non SR5) models, but the plug on my truck is clearly for that, not the one I have.

Anyone ran into this before? Did rockauto send me the wrong part?

Well, figured out after looking at the plug that its the same one, notched in the side to slide in to the bigger sending unit, at least Toyota made it easy.

Unfortunately the gauge now does not work, nor is it sweeping when the electric is on, but the truck isn't. I'm guessing that means the PO fried the gauge after all. Do I need to replace the cluster?

First remove the trim that is around the steering column, it makes things go easier! Take the trim off from around the cluster, below the steering column and the drivers side speaker cover. Take the 4 screws out of the cluster, disconnect the speedometer cable (push down on middle of the white clip which raises the lock on the end nearest the cluster), disconnect the electrical plugs from the cluster & remove it. Take the 2 metal brackets off of the top and with a couple of small screwdrivers unlock the tabs on the clear plastic cover carefully prying it off as you go around the outside edge of the cluster, once off repeat for the black cover. Locate your oil pressure gauge remove the screws that hold it in place and make a connection to the printed circuit on the back... gauge can now be removed.
