88 4runner rough idle 550rpms
Hey everyone. I have an 88 4runner 3.0/ 5 speed with 297,xxx. My trucks been running great until recently, the idle is starting to get rough. Its idling around 550-600 rpms and fluctuating up and down. Ive recently replaces plugs, cap, rotar, however i haven't done the wires yet. Im just looking for some ideas or suggestions, THANKS!

You might have a leaking intake gasket. This will get poor air to fuel ratio resulting in a rough idle... Does it change when the truck warms up? if you haven't replaced the gaskets in the last 10 years they are probably dried out.

Also 550-600 is too low of an idle. Try bumping it up to 700 or 800 and see if it smooths out.
Edit: That's what I did with my 22RE. I see you have a 3.0, and I'm not sure what the idle spec is for that engine.

How much is it fluctuating up and down?
Have you checked the coolant? The IAC valve is controlled my coolant temperature, so if you don't have enough coolant, it will read it as cold and either idle high or fluctuate.
