87 front end rebuild? what do i need???

ok guys my 87s front end is wore out beyond it even being safe to drive, i found a kit on ebay for 100$http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=p5197.c0.m619 but what kind of tools do i need? im going to be replaceing my cv axles along with all this, is there any tech write ups on how to replace the cv axles, done it on a four wheeler so idk if its the same, and one more thing, my steering box is leaking pretty bad, should i just replace it? :nopity:gimme some hints lol, never done this before and steering is one thing that shouldnt be messed up espically doing 70 down the freeway lol!

I would be cautious of a any kit for that cheap without knowing the manufacturer and why the parts are marked down.
you can get master parts cheap but they don't hold up very long ,save your money and invest in quality parts.
I have been using lucus power steering additive in steering units for years, and have had good luck slowing down or stopping leaks .
There are several write ups on cv axles on here to look at, that should answer any question you might have about them.

I wouldn't trust the ebay stuff. I would just rather use Autozone parts at the very least. Also stay away from Moog stuff especially the idler arm. And since yours is an 87, get the FA5040 Idler if your replacing that as well. Much better unit, if they ask for year on that part say 95. It's a direct drop in replacement. Or simply tell them FA5040.

In order to get the pitman off, you might need the heavy duty pitman puller from autozone on loan. Gonna need a tierod puller aka pickle fork as well. Also get yourself a good heavy brass hammer.

i have a good brass hammer here at the house, i also found a guy on cl who said he has all new front end parts for ifs hes just doing a SAS so maybe buy some used parts if there good quailty? i hate buying used stuff like joints and such but hey im on pizza man salary lol!
