'87 4Runner -- FJ tire share and max tire size?

A few days ago I discovered a tread large separation bulge on my '87 4Runner right rear tire, and decided to swap on my '07 FJ's winter tires to the old trusty 4Runner. Well, of course it looks grand with those black steelies and big tires, enough that I'm re-thinking what size tires/wheels I can put on the '87 4Runner.

The question is, what size tire can I comfortably run on that '87 4Runner without rubbing issues? I didn't encounter any with the LT265/70R17 Revo2s, but I didn't push it either. Is this a workable size? Too tall for the poor 4cyl?

Also, I noticed that the center hole in the stock steelie rims from the FJ didn't quite allow for the center caps to stay in place when on the 4Runner -- does that seem right, or should the center holes be the same size?

Should fit fine. 265s are basically 31s. Should fit fine. With the caps I wouldn't even worry bout them. I had 32s on my truck before I lifted it
