86 Yota W/ 22R, Very slow cranking starter
Its a brand new starter with a brand new battery and as of recently it cranks so slow I cant get it started. After cranking slow for a good amount of time it just clicks like a bad starter does when the the contacts inside are bad. It clicks when the starter gets hot. Why is it cranking so slow? The battery is at 11.9v and I bought the one with a good amount of cold cranking amps.

starting problems also.
I am having the same issue you are. i just finished building the motor put it in, hooked up new starter to new battery. the motor turns but sounds like its not getting enough power and turns over slowwwwwwww. battery light on dash does not go off. thinking im not getting enough amps to crank the motor over and start the truck. this is the 85 22r with weber carb. havent tried to jump with another car yet but what could be causing this?

Well, it's been a few years, so he's probably had it fixed forever. Good on the search, though. Somebody's tryin'. Check your battery at rest. Any less than 11.8 volts fully charged, it's probably time for a new battery. And then chase all your wires, make sure you have ALL your grounds, and they're ingood shape, then check your alternator. Most auto parts chains can test your alt. Then follow the link in above post if there's still problems. Enjoy!
