Progress
OK, so finally got some time to play with it. It seems like every time a take something apart I find something else that needs fixing because the PO was doing POS work. lol. I think it was just in pieces and he wanted to sell it so he threw it together in a day and it dint matter if it was right or not, just fast and cheap. Well I knew when I bought it that there was a oil leak on the timing cover so I took it home and started taking it apart, one thing leads to another and I figured out I needed to do the head gasket. So I got it apart and luckily the head gasket came out in one piece so I was able to re-use it.
J/K. lol. I put a new one in and here is a pic of the old next to the new...

The dude cut the front off of the old one and put some strange rubber in there to avoid removing the head in order to get the timing cover off and do a fresh gasket right. (Apparently he was trying to change the timing chain). Here are some pics from today...

As of now...

Also the UPS man came yesterday (I love that guy) and brought me my amplifier. It’s a Rockford Fosgate P5002 and the sub is a Rockford Fosgate HX2 which is the old P3. 500rms watts of mind blowing, truck rattling, street shaking power all in one sub! Yay! I can’t wait. And the best part of it is the whole system will be done for under $150...

Hey, I was trying to put the front driveshaft in (only god knows why it was out) and it seems to be the wrong one. It just barely wont slide onto the studs like they are 1/32 to far apart. IDK. Well I looked up and saw 3 empty threaded holes, what goes here? (see picture)...

There are different patterns on the output of the transfer case.
Options:
1) Drill your existing holes on the driveshaft. If I recall right, drilling them out to 1/2" will get them close enough to work.
2) Get the correct driveshaft.
3) Call Marlin Crawler - they build an output that will work with either bolt pattern, I believe it's $30.

OK so I just dropped $850 to try to get this thing to smog, now it needs a cam so I bought one and put it in. Its very hard to turn compared to the old one, is that normal?
fresh cam..

Is there any break in period for a new cam?
And something I did to hold the cam gear in the same place so as not to mess up the timing, I used zip ties and I thought it was cool that I actually came up with it. Worked great...

Haha, well some guy had the sub and didnt want it so he gave it to me for free. And the amp was $100 used on ebay, and the rest of the money will be in wires. Only the sub part of it is going to be $150. Not going in this truck anymore though, its going in the other turbo runner I bought.
