86 Auto - Man Swap
 

Was wondering if anyone knows how to do an Auto to Man tranny swap on an '86 1st gen 4Runner. I can get the donor parts I just wanted to know how to do it. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean how to do it?

You take the transmission out...put the new one in. Cut hole in firewall for clutch slave cylinder. Put new bracket in for clutch pedal. Cut hole for shifter. And bam your done.

What about the light and neutral wiring that I've heard horrorr stories about? Thank You for the quick reply btw.

No problem. There is a white plug on the passenger side wheel well going down to the transmission. What you do is cut the plug off on the transmission side and there will be three wires. I believe you take the two bigger wires (its been awhile...lol) and attach them together. This will act like its in park all the time. It worked for my 86 Truck I had.

TY, Nothing on the backup lights?

No problem...I can't remember about the back up lights. I'm assuming they should just plug right in but I don't know if they worked on my truck or not???

well school work more than anything, i have too much time on my hands, about how long would it take for a swap?

You can do the whole swap in a weekend, and you will need to have new drive shafts made also.
