86 4X4 22R Clutch Job
Hello, I got my my drive line and tranny dropped and my flywheel/ clutch out I am putting in a new kit and throw out bearing. Whoever had done this before me seemed to have used gear oil... is that bad? What should be used? I been told auto transmission fluid regardless of being a manual tranny. The rear main seal looks in superb condition still solid clean rubber I dont think its going to be worth my time to replace the rear main but what do you think? Is there any maintinance that I should be doing when I have the drive line and tranny out before I put a new clutch kit in? Any recommendations on what clutch to get (available at napa, auto zone, schucks, ect)? If anyone has any advise on what any this job please post it here, this is my very first clutch job and I dont want to screw things up. I got someone who somewhat knows what he is doing but he isnt a pro mechanic either but definately couldnt have done it without him.. maybe next time lol.... any advise??????

I have trail gears clutch, I like it. Alot of people like Marlin Crawlers clutch other then that the box stores are about the same.
If you are going box store, try partsamerica.com you can order it online from one of the boxs and pick it up at the store at a substantial savings.
Generally I put gear oil in the transmission. Look it up in the owners manual or the FSM. I happen to like the synthetic stuff from royal purple.
