86 22RE - Sudden drop in gas mileage & engine miss
I have a 1986 22RE, 135K miles, rebuilt @ 125K miles with new head, cam, chain, cover, etc. Approximately 5K miles ago I experienced a sudden 25% drop in gas mileage, although the engine ran fine. Replaces the TSP, and cold-start injector but no change. Approximately 1K miles ago the engine started missing around 3K rpms and won't get more than 50 mph. Compression good. New plugs, rotor, wires - everything Toyota parts. Do I have 2 problems or one that is causing both symptoms??? Possibly coil/igniter or Mass Air Flow????

Did it right.
I used a voltage meter and turned the housing until the proper resistance values were obtained. It's right on the money. This truck is *perfect* (4x4, x-Cab, moonroof, power windows & doorlocks, zero rust, original paint, original carpet & seats, every option available at the time) and I want to keep it until the doors fall off. The engine compartment looks like a surgical operating room, and the drivetrain has seen nothing but synthetics since new. I can't hardly go anywhere without finding a note on the windshield asking if I wanted to sell. These 2 problems disturb me....

then i would just start testing anything and everything if it has a miss like that it could be the coil/lighter thingy i would test that if you could or swap it out with a known working one and see before you buy a new one
