86 22R no power. gets worse when warms up. Timing chain guide failure.
I have a 1986 toyota with a 22R. I t has been sitting for a while. A few months ago my wife was driving it and she lost the lower radiator tube. I put a new tube on it but could not get it to run right. So I have just started to work on it again. I have done all the simple checks. I drilled out the cat. Nothing has helped. Last thing I did was pull the valve cover off. The oil was a bit milky. The drivers side chain guide is gone and the cover has some nice grooves in it. So I know I have a problem there. But I do not want to fix it untill I know of my other problem. I don't think that would cause low power. I mean 40 MPH is about as fast as it will go and once it gets up to operating temps it will die and not start until it has cooled down. Unless the timing chain jumped a tooth. Has this happened to anyone. Could that be my low power?
Thanks, Brant
