85 4cyl. 4runner third in 88 v6 rear?

Hey guys just wondering if an 85 4cyl. 4runner third member would work in an 88 v6 4runner? Is the only difference between a v6 and 4cyl. third the strength of the ring and pinion?

thanks,

I believe they call the V6 a 4-pinion design and the 4cyl a 2-pinion, but don't quote me. Regardless, the carriers & spider gear setup are totally different designs.
