Just got finished going through BoneCollector's thread and he had a link to here. I know this is kind of old, but I'm wondering what this did to your fuel mileage. You never reported back. After reading this, I'm really interested.

My bad. It bumped my mpg's to 18-20. I was running about 15-16 so I am happy with the bump it performance and fuel mileage. Like I said this is a must do mod

I might have to look into that, I can get a free 7MGE AFM right now, and they cost less here in town for some reason. When you say adjusted the cog what do you mean?

You have to open the afm and adjust the fuel wheel inside. Make sure you mark the stock position first. Move the wheel six teeth rich and start the truck. My timing as well as 94yo-toes is 15-16 degrees. On my truck I had to play with the air idle bypass screw A LOT to get the truck to idle/drive correctly. On 94's truck we never touched the air idle bypass screw. (which made me a little mad.... lol)

Some clarifications: I set my plugs to .040 which is farther apart then the factory .034. do this because im running the supra coil. Dont feel you need to run that coil, 94yo-toe didnt and it still works great. 94yo didnt play with his plugs either, im not sure what kind of mileage he's getting either. AS far as fuel mileage... I can get 20 if I drive like miss daisy.... but what fun is that. I typically get 18+, and thats driving like a race car. Here's the best thing about this mod.... If you dont like it, or decide to sell the truck... simply pull off the 7mge afm and replace it with the stock 3vze unit. Easy peasy its return to stock....

5vze injectors plug and play with 3vze??? I don't think the 5vze intake / head swap is actually doable with the 3vze.... more of an urban legend. Unless u hit the lottery to pay for it.

Yes they are I didn't say head swap I said intake the top half. U can make a 3.0 3vz a twin cam but u need a different doner motor for the parts u need and they didn't make many of them

5vz head and 3vz heads are no way compareable to swap go to autozone and look at the head gaskits. Hopefully some this yr my dads buddy will deside to rebuild his 3vz and ill be doing this afm swap 5vz injectors twin over head cams billet crank 5vz upper half swap and seeing how much POWer it make to tell everyone if it works and if its worth it.

interesting.... Im getting ready to tear the top half of my motor off to fix a ticking valve so I might look into the 5vz injectors. My valve tick has been with the truck long before I put the AFM in the truck, so dont worry about the afm making stuff worse. The PO neglected my truck and then gave up on it, part of the reason i got it so cheap. Got any links about the intake swap or the crazy twin cam 3.0 idea. I would like to read more about that.. As of right now my heads, intake and throttle body will be ported n polished so it will be a definite 3.GO!

wait..... the 5vz intake has the throttle body on the opposite side as the 3vze.... so are you going to move all the afm, throttle linkage, wiring etc etc to make the intake work???? is it worth it??

No there's two different 5vz intakes. And don't get the tb ported its big enough I wouldn't have the intake ported is try the 5vz upper half. 3vz valve always trick they use pucks there going to make more noise over the life of the engine. I wouldn't waste the time porting the head maybe a quick gaskit match and u can do that ur self then I would upgrade ur cams to the trd cams. Or is get the headers for it. Just my .02

When I say ported i mean the gasket match and polish on the intake and heads. I was debating about working the throttle body or not. I plan on doing a exhaust Crossover elimination on my 3vze as well when i put it all back together.
