I believe the stock bore was 55mm
Combined with the other modifications I made(head, cam, valves header, exhaust etc.) I am quite pleased with the performance over stock.

I have the EFI performance kit for my 85 4runner which has the throttle body spacer would I have to have the intake bored to match to get the true potential out of the upgrade? and would this afm upgrade make any difference?

What I would do is take the stock 22RE TB apart and get it bored 5mm over. Then take the 5MGE throttle plate itself and bolt it in the bored 22RE TB then it will be a direct bolt on. Another thing, I have yet to see any dyno number from any engine mods that are done on our Toyota engines like the 22R or the 3VZ. The butt dyno is not that accurate and it may be a waste of money for the gains that you do get. Not saying not to try any of this stuff but before you go off spending hundreds of dollars, you might want to find out if it is actually worth it. The best mod I think is a regear. Made a world of difference on my Toyota trucks.

Check out 'polarbeartuning' he has expressed some interest in boring out the TB's- he already does Honda and Acura, I think he will come in around $150. Email and show him some interest. Talking to a guy about the MAF conversion- we'll see where that goes. Supra TB conversion- dead. Supra AFM, in and running- was it worth it- I don't know yet.

This is from MaxBore- I'm going to call him tomorrow. And forget about the converter- same idea as I wanted but won't work for my application- I've emailed the company, but still pretty sure the ecm won't understand that unit. BTW anybody here have a good 1990 TB they want to sell? I need a core. Or if a few of us are interested- perhaps we can pass a loaner TB around? I've got a 1992- looks the same but can't get it to run- idle issues even with a rest TPS.
Hello Dave.
I don't get those Tbs to bore so I don't know exactly how much bigger I can make them. On average, I can bore TBs 3 to 4mm over.
I don't provide cores since I would assume responsibility for it fitting and working in your vehicle. I would recommend that you send in a spare TB that you know works with your engine, that way you have no down time and can revert to stock if you need to.
You may reach me at 321 277 6151.
Thanks
George

Well- his price is $125 shipped, 60mm vs 59mm- and the headaches of fitting it. I just sent a 5mge back. I don't have access to a good Toy scrap yard.
