3VZE Throttle Body's
Hey guys this might be a stupid question but I'm just wondering about the 3vze throttle body's. did they change threw the years or did they remain the same? Example being I have a 94 3VZE motor with a bad throttle body, could I use a 89-93 throttle body? Just wanna make sure before I buy the wrong part. The stealership wants 500$ for a new throttle body

Only differences I know of were between auto trans and manual trans. The connecter for the TPS also changed but that doesnt mean you couldnt keep your original TPS just swap it out on the new throttle body.
|
Ah that sounds interesting, could anybody else give another conformation?

Whats the diff auto/manie? And this one im not sure about, but theres a vacuum plunger thingy on the auto that I had. It pushes open the throttle to idle up the motor. It could be for Air conditioner, or the auto trans to control idle when in gear and not. Or both. Vehicle im referring to was a 95 4runner 3VZ auto. Id say if theres no obvious differences then give it a shot. Worst case it doesnt work and will leave you always wondering why until you get to the bottom of it. |

I think most things on the 3VZE engines are interchangeable between the years 90-95, I have a 91 pickup with the 3VZE and have been able to interchange between those years no problem.

that would be the throttle position sensor (tps) But in case you ever need to now were the TPS really is: Attachment 202465 You were close though. :great: |

Not Interchangeable

The throttle body's changed over the years for 89-93 Pickups and 4Runners. I have a manual 91 Pickup (3VZ-E) and I do not have the hoses and parts circled in red below:
Attachment 202466 They are NOT interchangeable. There's a distinct difference between manual and automatic, those with cruise control, etc. They added more vacuum lines over the years as well. |
Again the Intake pictured is from an auto trans. There is no reseon it couldnt be used on a manual truck. It has extra parts, not lack of parts.

I installed one of these on my 89 manual pick up for the cruise control linkage. It works well with a few small issues.
Toyota changed the TPS to point downward. Also the connector housing changed so the newer TPS will not plug into the older wire harness. I got around the problem by using the older TPS. Also the TPS actuating arm on the end of the older TB needs to be used. Changing the TPS to point sideways causes the 'fast idle start up' arm to hang up on the TPS connector at WOT. I bent over the arm alittle for clearance. Then bent the vacuum plunger over to realign to the arm. |
hey guys whats the two cables on the left side of the trottle body i just changed my engine and i didnt have those cabbles on my old one and i was wandering what they where for and if i needed to get some
|
The throttle body has the throttle cable, the automatic transmission throttle cable, and the cruise control throttle cable. All on the forward side. If you have a manual trans and no cruise, you only need one cable.
Note that btu44 has after-market cables. |
Hello,
I need to replace the Throttle Body on my 3VZE 1989 Manual Transmission PU 4X4 Ext. Cab. I was wondering if I could use a Throttle Body from a 5VZE since the 3VZE TB is very hard to find. (One in good condition). OR any other options available. |

Seems unlikely to me that you really need to replace your throttle body, but who am I to tell you what to do? (and no, it won't fit a 5VZE) |
