Oil cooler

Is it in front of the motor mount???

On the 3v'z's I know the sender is in front of the oil filter, and both the oil filter and oil pressure sender are in front of the motor mount.

On your engine, is the oil filter rear of the motor mount???

Yes, sender guage is way in front of oil filter. Not sure relation to mount.
Last summer when I installed the crappy beckarnley sender, that is now reading erratically, I had the radiator and hoses off to make it easier.
Maybe thru the driver side wheel well access panel is the way. Think I'll go with oem this time. I had a catastophic leak thru a sender once, don't trust aftermarket senders anymore.

If you remove the oil cooler, you ought to replace the big o-ring and the smaller gasket.

How do you change the oil filter???

There should be plenty room to get at the pressure sender with the filter removed.

Sure don't see any reason to touch the oil cooler.

You definitely do not need to remove the oil cooler or the oil filter to replace the sender. I just replaced it on my 3vze, took about 10 minutes. Just went through the wheel well in front of the tire and from below just like how you remove the oil filter. I let it sit overnight before I did it and didn't lose a drop of oil. I put 2 turns of teflon tape on the threads.

Thanks, will go in thru the wheel well after removing the cover. Just ordered the dealer sensor.
Thanks for the replies.

I have my truck in the garage tonight, so just to confirm if I was remembering correctly, I went and took a look. Definitely easy to access without messing with the wheel well at all, just reach up from underneath in front of the steering stabilizer and next to the lower radiator hose like you're going to remove the oil filter. No need to pull that cover.

So that is what a 3VZ-E oil cooler looks like... I have never seen one in person.

I learn something new everyday! :)
