Dammit! oil is blowing out and I can't find the leak! It appears to be coming out near the A/C compressor on the passenger side. If I idle the engine nothing comes out, if I drive on the highway the whole left side of the engine is covered in oil. I have replaced the valve cover gaskets and it is dry near the top of the engine. It also does not appear to be the head gasket as there is not much oil up there.

I am suspecting possibly it's the oil pump itself, any ideas?

Front main slinging oil maybe???

There does not appear to be any oil near the crank or the center of the engine.

Sure its oil and not p/s fluid? I hope when you did the valve cover gaskets you did them very carefully and properly..... they have t be sealed perfect and tourqed or they leak.... possible front main and or oil pump seal....... PCV valve bad and or hose disconnected?

It's engine oil. The valve cover is dry as is the top of the engine. The worst area appears to be where the A/C compressor is. It's been leaking for some time now but today it got worse. Looks like I gotta tear it apart.

I'd clean it off with engine cleaner and drive slowly down the road and get out ever so often and look....

Got the same thing on my 91... I'm 99% sure, it's either the front main, or the pump seal.
Another thing, could be the cam seal... hard to tell when those are leaking, cuz u gotta tear the timing cover off to see them.

Yea if its the seal where the cam and sprocket are behind the timing cover.... then yea..... that sucks..... take the timing cover off and see.... those are usually not prone to leak but theres a time for everything.... indeed....

I'm gonna go out now and pull the front apart, I just changed the timing belt last year so it will go quick, I'll let you guys know what I find.

It appears the passenger side cam seal is wasted, I tried to loosen the bolt but it's stuck, I'll borrow a impact wrench tomorrow. I just replaced the timimg belt/water pump/idler bearings last fall so most of that stuff can stay. I figure the timing belt gets replaced again since I have to take it off.

yea even though its new i would replace it too.... and check everything... while your in there make sure everything is good.

Yeah I know, I'm going to replace the drivers side cam seal too. Hell, I'm half tempted to replace the cranks seal while I'm at it.

I would hate to tell you but i had a simler problem and it was the head gaskets. They split ubove the a/c and ubove the oil cooller on there respective sides

Well it turns out it was the cam seal. Upon inspection I noticed it had come out of it's seat. It about fell off with no tools needed. New ones went in and the truck is now leak free.
