3vze idle drop when remove oil cap??

Just like the title says, I have recently rebuilt 3vze, just replaced the cam plug cause it was leaking. So I started it up after the fix, and I don't know why but I removed the oil cap and the the idle dropped pretty significantly. I put my hand over the oil fill hole and it niether sucked my hand nor pushed air out. Is the idle drop normal? My buddy was pretty surprised, he's never heard of that happening in the fords he works on.
Thanks

Yes, normal to have idle drop.

...or just funky idle either way with the cap off.

I'm thinking cause it's fooling the air in take?

Yeah, it basically creates a vacuum leak. There was another thread recently on this exact issue and someone had a good explanation, IIRC. :)

Happens on any non-carbureted engine with a PCV system.

Makes sense he works and rebuilds classic cars, he doesn't touch the new stuff, thanks.
