3vze bored throttle body, who does the best job
who does the best job on the 3vze throttle body bore?
I am seeing downey does a power breather (3mm overbore)
lc engineering does a 4.5mm overbore with taper,
rc engineering doesn't list it on the website but used to do them,
DOA engines, have heard mixed reports,
any thoughts from people with TBs bored from one of these vendors would be helpful as I make my choice (metalaction bored tb and plenum fell through as I was sent the wrong TB).

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm interested in rebuilding and boring my t-body as well. I've only looked into Downey's so far. I also want my intake chanber bored out. Ther has to be more folks out there who've done this...Anybody??

There are a lot of areas I would address before the t-body or plenum IMHO. The cash could be better spent like on cams, exhaust etc. On built engine the intake might have a really nice effect but Downey's 8 hp all at the top end is really not worth it to me.

EXACTLY! Get Weasy2k's cams first, then address the valves, then perhaps headers, then the TB would be the next step.
Remember you have to fix the weakest link first to get the most out of your money! The two weakest links in this motor are the heads and the cams. This is why you see people bitching up a storm about the engine not making power with basic add ons. If they'd have addressed the main issues first they would have seen the gains.
Besides for 400 + shipping (which isnt bad honestly) you get an INSTANT 15-20hp boost and 35-45ftlb tq boost!!
Then after that every single mod you do is going to make the cams work that much better after that point.

Note, I'm no 3.0 expert, but I did an early set of cams back before you guys even could drive... :-)
Bang of the buck, make sure you need to flow the air before spending buck on the TB.
For the 22re, you can go to a supra throttle body (60mm) relatively easily.. Why spend $250 or more on a bore, when it may or may not make a difference.
Work your heads, add headers, remove your cross over pipe...

The 3.0 is a reliable engine, if you take care of the timing belt and do the head gaskets. It's not particularly powerful or efficient, however.

Bumpinyota,
I hear what you're saying, and it makes perfect snese. I just got off the phone with Downey, and wasn't really thrilled about the 8 top end hp gains. My HG needs to be done anyway and I think I have one coming from Toyota, on the house. Still need to check on that. $400 sounds good for a cam. I don't have the cash for new heads right now, but I don't think I need them ayway. Where can I get this Weasy2k cam you speak of??

Like the plague.
Their name describes what most have experienced. That and the owner is a crook.
To take advantage of throttle body mods you need a whole lot of other mods first.
Porting & polishing intake & heads, cams, valves, headers and a high flow exhaust. Gasket match the whole path.
Basically you have to open up the whole air passage first.
Then, maybe doing the throttle body will get you something positive.
Otherwise, you'll just kill the bottom end.
I've done all the above to my polished turd and still haven't done the tb yet...though I'm considering it now.
