3vze #1 Idler Pully- Spring or hydraulic.....
I'm rebuilding my 95 4Runner vze, using a donor engine, orig gone as core swap. The donor has heads for a spring type #1 pulley. Has anyone ever drilled drilled the spring head to accept the hydraulic pulley? Obvious questions have been addressed.... I would prefer the hydraulic pulley.......Is drilling a wise choice?
Many thanks,

I haven't done that personally, and kind of prefer the spring type pulley actually. The spring only does its job for 10 seconds while you set the tension and then the pulley is held in place by its bolt. Just my .02

I have a brand new Gates spring tensioner if you need one. When I did my timing belt and all that stuff I didn't realize I had the hydraulic tensioner and ordered the kit with the spring type. Let me know if you want it.
