3.0 MAF making sucking sounds

I don't have any recorded clip of the sound yet. The AFM makes a really weird sucking sound which apparently doesn't have much effect on performance (or does it) but makes people think my truck is going to explode in their face. I've talked to people in person about it and the general consensus is that it's not a bad sound, but I figure yotatech probably knows more about this. There IS a K&N on it, and a weird one at that. Here is a picture for you to check out (I'm aware of the missing nuts. it used to make the sound with all 4 as well though. gasket is fine too. and no it's not still dirty :)

I traded my old AFM when I first bought the truck for another one, and it didn't make any difference. I am assuming the K&N is causing this weird sucking sound, but are sucking sounds normal? Has anyone ever seen a K&N like this? I'll try to figure out a way to get some audio clips/videos

well its a afm not a maf and im pretty sure the k&n is making the noise i know when i had when on my 22re it would make i good bit of noise at idle

Whoops, I always get MAF and AFM mixed up. I wonder if there is any kind of performance difference at all with that K&N. So far it's just a pain because it requires cleaning all the time from wheeling.

K&n

I've got the conical K&N, same sucking sound. Apparently normal. Brad

i put a k&n on my dad's gmc. it makes some very loud sucking noises but the manual from the FIPK said it's normal.
