3.0 liter automatic transmission shifting problems.
What shifts the 3.0 liter auto trans? Is it controlled by electronics or by wire or other means? My trans will not shift from the first gear. Fluid is fine.

I swapped motors from a 3.0 to a 3.4. Before the swap the thing worked fine. Got the new engine in, hooked up new computer (from same donor vehicle), donor harness and ORS adapters. Thing started up fine. I did have to alter several tranny plugs because of differences between the original and "new" engine harnesses (using detailed wiring diagrams of both vehicles) but I may have made an error somewhere along the lines.
Another thing is that the cable going to the tranny from the engine ("kick-down" cable?) got a bit stretched during the mounting (I do have a new one on order), but would this cause this problem?
I'm just trying to narrow the problem down...

If you altered the plugs too much you could be getting different resistance levels on the wires. Did you splice them in or use a cheater box to clamp the wires on??? Did you use the same gauge wire?
