2nd Gen Power Steering Belt Jumps Off After New Pulley Install
Ok folks, I could use a little help (and therapy) here.
Fist off this is on a 2nd Gen V6 Manual Transmission
To repair a leak in the power steering pump I removed it and replaced all of the o-rings using the kit from toyota. Like most 2nd gens, the pulley nut was not coming off without a fight and I ended up buying a new pulley from NAPA as mine was less than pretty when the nut finally came off. Now the belt keeps jumping off the pulley at anything over about 3K RPMs. The new pulley looks to be identical to the old one and everything is tensioned up good and tight. I can't see any alignment issues with the belt. And this is where I run out of ideas. Any advice or suggestions woud be appreciated. Also, has anyone had success with the NAPA pulley?

Which pulley are you talking about? The one that covers the water pump? I think you're refering to the False water pump. All it does is guide the serpentine belts.
If thats what you're talking about, then yes. I've had issues with it. my false water pump went out and I replaced it with a NAPA bracket, and it failed 3 days after installing it. The rod pulled out and caused the pulley to shift back and forth. which resulted in the power steering belt to fly off. I replaced the NAPA one ( returned for a full refund ) and got an AISIN one. I think i spent 150 on it.
I hope this helped.
