2nd gen cranks but won't start and no codes

I drove my 2nd gen one day and the next went to start it and it cranks but won't start. I've checked:
fuses & relays under the dash & under the hood.
even the fuel pump relay by the parking brake.

Most everything electrical works, horn, headlights, fan motors, etc. What doesn't work is the radio, which used to work. I have 12 volts at the fuse box, but nothing at the radio harness.

Here's the odd part:
When I try to pull engine codes, the check engine light doesn't come on. So I pulled the negative cable and EFI fuse to reset everything and it didn't help. Then I noticed, I don't have the check engine light when I turn on the key to start it normally.

Does this sound like the ECU went?

Thanks,
Phil

first you might want to check the cold start injector http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...88coldstar.pdf
then go from there.

Cold start seems like a possibility.

CEL Bulb burned out on the cluster maybe?

What about a clogged/blocked fuel filter? Is it getting gas?

the fact that the CEL is not coming on means the bulbs burned out, or the ECU is not getting power, did you test the EFI relay? or at least switch it out with one in the fuse box that matches it and see if it works, good luck

Hadn't thought of switching the relays. I test them by using an ohm meter. One side has continuity and the other doesn't. I'm guessing that's correct.
I'll do some more testing and see what happens.
As always, thanks for the info.

I had a Camry that blew the fuel pump fuse twice before I could get it replaced. After replacing the pump,I reconnected the batter, and the check engine light was out and it would not start/run/pop,moan,cry--nothing replaced the fuse and it was magic---started and ran fine ever since.

You should check the distributor cap as well. Same exact thing happened to me and after a new fuel filter and a really expensive tow, it turned out to be the distributor cap and rotor. Just a thought anyhow.

I solved it;
There's a wire that goes to the fuse box that had gotten unplugged. I saw it a few times and thought it went to a relay for my aux lights.
Out of curiosity, I plugged into the fuse box and it started right away. :bang:
Thanks for all the help
