2nd Gen 4runner REAR Addco swaybar pics?
I'm looking for experience and photos from 90-95 4runners with regards to rear swaybars.
Does anyone run with it disconnected and still attached? All the guys I know just took it off.
Does it make contact with the gas tank or anything else when flexing?
Also if anyone has pic of the Addco rear swaybar installed, that would be helpful. Or if someone can just confirm that it is a direct replacement.
I guess Addco doesn't liek to return emails.
Thanks.

My '92 has rear swaybar disconnects that I made myself, and unhook when I go wheeling. Let me try to find some pics of my rear flex, ; anything in particular you're looking for I could help with? It doesn't hit anything while flexing, but I have the fancy disco's that have a heim-joint sliding on a bolt. They work quite well.

So, you'r disconnects don't actually come off? They just slide on the bolt? I think my suspension has too much travel for that kind of deal.
Good to know that it doesn't hit anything/ I'm thinking I will zip tie it to my leaf springs when disconnected so it doesn't flop around.
Seems like they are real close to the tire, I just don't want to rip a sidewall on it either.
Pics would be great!

Oh man, zip-tie? Aren't you concerned it might break? Have you considered some good nylon straps with cam buckles? Very sturdy...and inexpensive.

Cam buckles would be to bulky and definitely overkill.
It's kinda like putting a hairband on your pony tail. A cambuckle would be way overkill.
.....Unless there is something that I am missing.

No I agree with you deathrunner... zip ties should be fine. I hope someone posts some pictures on here soon of either the addco or their homeade contraptions. I am running without swaybar and LC coils... sorta tipsy

Well, I got the swaybar in today.
The instructions had a warning, which read:
"DO NOT INSTALL A REAR SWAYBAR WITHOUT A FRONT SWAYBAR"
After, some internet searching, I have found 2 other sources that say the same thing, but no one says why.
Is this something to be concerned about?
My ride has a TON of body roll and feel sway to sloppy. I can trace most of this to the rear suspension.
Will a rear swaybar make matters worse?
What is this warning for?

Here is some info I have found:
"If the car is understeering, you can increase rear sway bar diameter or decrease front sway bar diameter to restore balance. To correct oversteer with sway bars, it is necessary to install either a smaller rear bar or a larger front bar. Most sway bars have adjustable links that can be used to effectively increase or decrease the stiffness of the sway bar without buying a new one."
"The other function of anti roll bars is to tune the high g / limit understeer behavior of the vehicle. The limit understeer behavior is tuned by changing the proportion of the total roll stiffness that comes from the front and rear axles. Increasing the proportion of roll stiffness at the front will increase the proportion of the total weight transfer that the front axle reacts and decrease the proportion that the rear axle reacts. This will cause the outer front wheel to run at a higher slip angle, and the outer rear wheel to run at a lower slip angle, which is an understeer effect. Increasing the proportion of roll stiffness at the rear axle will have the opposite effect and decrease understeer."

I guess what I'm looking to do is decrease body roll without affecting my under/oversteer characteristics.
From my reading, a rear sway bar only will increase the oversteer characteristics. Oversteer is said to be dangerous, especially at high speeds.
I just don't want to trade one dangerous issue for another.

Quick disconnects on sway bar.
All you would have to do is put quick links where the solid ones comes. Did any 2nd gens come with leaf springs? I haven't looked to see if the mounts would hit while disconnected. I'm sure you would need to tie them off somehow. I know my Old Man Emu coil springs helped alot with my roll.
