2nd gen 1990 4runner tailgate stuck
 

After opening the panel on the inside I discovered the driver side linkage wasn't connected, and the lock is stuck locked, I tried to open it by hand just where the cable would pull, No luck on the drivers side, the passenger side seemed responsive but the drivers side doesn't want to budge the arm it's self feels bent? Wondering there is a way to pop it open from the outside? Hard to repair/replace with it stuck shut.
