22re Oil pump shim/pressure improvement?
Is it possible to increase the oil pressure by shimming the relief valve? I have done this on other motors (VWs and such), and it looks like it might work for the 22re. There is an external hex headed bolt on the oil pump that contains a spring and check ball (I am pretty sure)
Would a stiffer spring or shim increase the oil pressure? I'd like a little more, as at 230k miles mine is a tad lower than I would like.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Get a new pump for Engbuldr.com for around $50 bucks. That is better then screwing with the heart of your engine. I am not sure that there is a pressure relief on these.

Yes.. It works. If you have a look at the front of my motor, you can see I'm running one. The pump is a high volume/pressure pump provided by DOA:

LC sells a shimmed by-pass also.
