22RE LC Engineering shortblock & ENGNBLDR head review after 4,000 miles

Some of you prolly remember my posts about my 22RE that I put together with the help of a mechanic friend of mine.

After the initial break-in period, we advanced the valve timing a total of 2 degrees on an EB RV head with the 268 cam. The motor has LC's shortblock with 9.5-1 compression, LC header, LC cat-back, Magnaflow high-flow cat & a set of balanced injectors.

The motor has around 4,000 miles on it now, and I am still very pleased with the power gains. Mileage is averaging around 18 MPG, with roughly 50-50 highway and city driving. Pulling the grades up from Phoenix I am able to maintain above 60MPH indicated, in 4th gear. In the past I was barely maintaining 45MPH with 3rd gear nearly redlined.

All-in-all, my mildly-built 22RE may not be a tire-smoking beast, but it is definitely more efficient & has a much more usable powerband. :banger:
