22re idles but cuts out.

trying to start up my 22re after the rebuild and I'm able to get it to fire (finally) and it idles for about 3 or 4 seconds then dies. it'll do this about 2 times then won't start for a short while. almost like it's flooding out.

also any attempt to throttle just kills it.

is it possible to flood fuel injection?

p.s. timing is about 5degree Btdc. new injector seals installed also.

Soulds like the air/fuel mixture is getting messed up.
Air filter clean.
Vac leaks.
Throttle body may be dirty at the butterfly and not allowing it to move freely.
TPS may be bad

You have spark because it fires, applying gas causes problems. I'm back to thinking vac-leak.
Intake manifold, Throttle body mets manifold, a hose just forgotten to rehook.

Listen for a whistle or sucking sound. Carb cleaner sprayed lightly around intake manifold, Throttle body connections may help find the leak. But it would have to be while you have it running for two minutes.

vac leaks are always a possibility...

just replaced the tank and pump with working units...

just changed the injector seals and found fuel puddled in the intake runners? is that normal?

I also wondered about my fuel return line - maybe glogged?

also, is there a fuel pressure regulator?

Try the fuel pump test jumper for a quick check:

If that works, test out the Air Flow Meter:
