22re has slight rattle.
My 22re sounds like it has a slight rattle. I cant really tell what it is, so I made a video. If anyone has an idea of what the sound is, please chime in. Thanks

search for valve adjustment. Search for noisy 22re. Search for valve cover noise. that should point you in the right direction.

sounds like valves or the start of a bad timing chain..

what's your RPMs? :think: that sounds like it's at like 2k! Yeah thats my idle. It was shaking allot at idle so I adjusted the idle screw to bring it up to a higher idle. Now it doesn't shake, but I hear this rattle. It doesn't have a tachometer, so I don't know what rpms I'm at. |
could be a tensioner for a belt...mine sounds like a bad case of rod knock..it's my power steering belt tensioner lol

i really think it's either a rod knock or u need valve adjustment. to figure out wihich one it is you could adjust the valves. and here is how to do thatADJUST VALVE CLEARANCE
(a) Set the No.1 cylinder to TDC/compression. •Turn the crankshaft with a wrench to align the timing marks at TDC. Set the groove on the pulley at the "0" mark position timing mark. •Check that the rocker arms on the No.1 cylinder are loose and the rockers on No.4 are tight. •If not, turn the crankshaft one complete revolution and align the marks as above. (b) Adjust the clearance of half of the valves. •Adjust only intake and exhaust for cylinder #1 and intake for #2 and exhaust for #3 Adjust Valves With Engine At Operating Temperature Intake clearance: 0.20 mm (0.008 in.) Exhaust clearance: 0.30 mm (0.012 in.) •Use a feeler gauge to measure between the valve stem and rocker arm. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting screw to set the proper clearance. Hold the adjusting screw in position and tighten the lock nut. •Recheck the clearance. The feeler gauge should move with a very slight drag. (c) Turn the crankshaft one revolution and adjust the other valves remaining Ed Note: Over-tightening the valve cover nuts and completely squashing the rubber seals causes excessive valve noise. Tighten the 4 nuts only enough to squeeze the rubber seals about half way. |
Inspect timing chain guides. Adjust valves. Set idle at correct speed.
