22RE = dead?
 

so i was driving home from a buddy's place last night, i have only put about 100ish miles on the yota just driving locally, this is the farthest away from home i have ever taken it (about 20 miles) and on the way home it starts getting hot, so i get off the highway, check the fluid's and there is no anti-freeze in the radiator or overflow tank, non at all. so by this time, i'm pissed, the truck stalled when i stopped too.

so me and my buddy hitch a ride home thanks to some cool people that just picked us up, we get some 50/50 and drive back, by this time its about 1amish, i put the fluid in, it takes the whole gallon, by this time i'm thinking WTF because i know it wasn't that low before.

try to start it, it won't start... damn.

push it as far to the shoulder as we can, we take my mom's van home.

get a call at 3:20 AM from the kent county sheriff's department and she said they have been getting complaints that my truck is in the way, so me and my dad run down there and come to find out, its in the way pretty good. the cop was real nice, she was kinda hot too, so me and my dad, not wanting to pull the rear driveshaft out, tug the truck into a school parking lot about 500 feet away, and go home and go to bed.

me and my friend just went and checked the truck out (forgot tools doh!) and when you crank it over, it pours cooland out from the bellhousing.

is there a freeze plug behind the clutch or somthing?

and the motor won't start, it wants to, but it wont. is this a sign that i should be looking into a motor swap?

The bad news is that all that coolant went somewhere.
If it didn't leak out, it's sitting in your oil pan.
Check your oil immediately. If you didn't run it for too long with water pumping through there, you might be OK after dealing with the head gasket.

Yes there is a freeze plug in the back of the block

this is going to be fun then.

i'm seriously considering swapping out the 22RE for a 4.3 litre chevy.



oil is clean, a little burnt, but it doen't have any coolant in it.
the coolant definatally went out the freeze plug in the back.
