22r head on a 22re? Does that work?

My 91 22re is in need of a better head due to corrosion. see here...https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...w-what-186048/

I found a reman head for sale local (sounds decent). here is what the ad states:

This is an American Cylinder remanufactured head. Ppart number AC247C. 8 Valve;SOHC for Toyota trucks/Suv/4Runner. Fits
1980-1986 TOYOTA 22R ENGINES
22R L4 2.2 Liter Diesel, Vin#s L, LOHC-SOHC
22R L4 2.4 Liter, 2bbl Vin#s R, OHC-SOHC
22R L4 2.4 Liter, Diesel Vin#s L, 2L OHC-SOHC
22R L4 2.4 Liter, Turbo Diesel Vin#s L, 2LT OHC-SOHC.
Same thing you would get at Advance Auto for over twice the price. Take note the new American Cylinder head # is AC248C. Still in original packing.

Is it possible to use this on my 1991 truck? Thanks Scott

no. look at the combustion chamber, its for the "early" 22r w/ domed pistons. The one you need is a "late" 22r/e that uses a flat-top piston.

I thought it was too good to be true. Thanks for the help Zack. I will continue looking for a good used one that is from my same model 22re. Maybe I will get that one for my '86 since it is pushing 240K and could surely use it soon! -Scott

22r/head

Hey, Scot, stay away from that head that's (84 or older) it won't even fit your 86, look at those exhaust holes, 85 n newer are pear shaped. That guy made a mistake or He does'nt know what's trying to sell. :camp:
