22r computer....
When I pulled my 22re out of my 87 truck I noticed the computer located under the dash on the passenger side has a big sticker that says 22r on it. Should I be concerned with this? Perhaps the guy before me swaped in a 22re and never swaped the computer? does it even matter?

What? 22r's are carbureted engines, and 22re's are fuel injected.
Unless he went out of his way and used megasquirt (which you would find), the engine wouldnt even run lol |
I know that my motor is a 22re but the sticker on the computer box clearly says 22r.....so I am wondering how this is possibpe cuz the truck did run

Photo?
I think what Peow is saying is that the 22R trucks didn't even HAVE ECUs becuase they were not EFI, so.......pics or it didn't happen! :) |
22r's have ECU's for smog stuff I believe
also the ECU I got from a fuel injected 84 celica is labeled 22r.. I'll get some pics.. |
You have nothing to be concerned about.
I have an '85 22RE ECU sitting in the garage and its labeled 22R. The ECU is labeled with just the basics, and in this case they used broad terms to let you know its for the 22R series engines. The part number for the ECU would tell what it was specifically meant for. |
Thank you

My '88 4Runner (22re) has an ECU with a big sticker on it that says "22R". Nothing to worry about.
Every 22R with an O2 sensor has an ECU. |
I was told long time ago that the color of the box makes a difference, is this true?
My 88 has an (upgraded?) green box and don't have a lot of the issues (poor mileage, lacking power) that others talk about. Story goes ...stock is grey or black, green, orange, red is hottest. Just wondering if anyone knew of this? |
My '88 ECU box is zinc coated. What color is that?
Silver, maybe? |
