(22r Carb) Part name ? rough idle/shutting off
Hello everyone ,
I have a 87 Toyota pick up that is having some issues. I just got the head rebuilt and unclogged my EGR system and thought it would fix it but I was wrong. The issues I'm have if is that most of the time it has problems starting up as well as keeping a steady idle. When I would come to a stop or down shift the engine would shut off. My next suspicion is my carb. It's a stock carb and I feel like now it's a fuel/air problem?
Today I was just looking around the carb and found a part inside the air filter housing and found that this part was clogged and made a big difference when starting the truck and keeping it in a steady idle. When I would disconnect the hose from the nipple and use my finger to control the air , the motor would idle perfectly with no problems. I'm not a mechanic but I can see when something makes a difference or not. The part I am speaking of has a cylinder drum looking thing on it and screws on right where you see the three holes for screws. I'm not sure what it is or called and that's why I am asking you guys for some help.
