ETRNL 05-26-2008 04:05 PM

i like em. i wish i had an old truck i can chop on.. but i currently only have one. so how do you open the door? as in unlatch it?

DudeBud 05-26-2008 04:09 PM

so you cut up some clean doors for some ghetto half doors awesome

94Runner4x4 05-26-2008 04:12 PM

you should have cut your original doors, and saved the ones you just bought. but either way, looks good.

Jay351 05-26-2008 04:29 PM

Looks good. Personally I wouldve cept the window frame for a cleaner finish, but otherwise good stuff.

I hope I find find a set of nice(ish) 3rd gen doors to hack up.

just a 22re 05-26-2008 05:44 PM

yeah thats what i was thinking to is keeping the frame there for a real clean look but i though of that after i made the first cut and by then it was to late

like i said though there clean other then one rust spot on the a pillar but they where really cheap and i was going to use them for my truck and cut up my doors but thats way to much work removing the non power stuff and putting in all my power stuff as i have power windows and locks but mah

and as for the door opening oh yeah i kept real clean and didnt put the handle on it i just dont like the way it looks that way heres some more pictures of the doors

the door open when you push on this lever kinda funny but it works with out the big handle on the top i wanted it clean so this is the way i made mine and boy the metal on these doors are thin!!!!!!!

wow this up load is taking forrrrrreeeeevvvvvvvvvveeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

ok its stuck on 71% so ill post the other pictures whenever its done guys

just a 22re 05-26-2008 06:18 PM

You gotta keep an eye on those things, they have a mind of their own.

run4her 05-27-2008 09:06 AM

Ya they do look what mine did.

I parked my 4runner out in the garage and forgot the sazall was left plugged in this is what i came out in the morning to.

DeathCougar 05-27-2008 09:56 AM

So you reach your finger into the door, to push the "latch thingy"?

BAZ 05-27-2008 09:59 AM

the half doors look pretty good, I guess. Just gotta throw some paint on them to cover up the booger-welds. What seats are in the truck? They dont look stock...

just a 22re 05-27-2008 03:36 PM

yeah i just got a grinder from work so there all smooth now and im going to throw a lil bondo on them for even better smoothness and im still putting the door panels on them and cutting them so they fold over the top part and yes you put your finger into the hole and it goes pop on the latch thingy lol but hey its my first time doing this so i think they look really good

1stgen4gunner 05-27-2008 04:00 PM

dude im sry, but you are the man, and hell yea money well spent.

Crawdad 05-27-2008 04:35 PM

Yota Tech Poster boy
You kick ass man. Seriously.... great mod, $20 very well spent.

My boss once told me "sometimes, you just gotta use a little brute force and ignorance".

4runnerx3 05-27-2008 05:36 PM

I perfer to cut the doors with an angle grinder. There's a lot less fibration than using a saws all.

Cut-off wheels rock! So do torches and plasmas but hell they turned out decent. It will be a good idea to seal off the ground down welds with some type of Bondo, caulking, or body epoxy before paint because flux core wire has a habit of resisting paint in a real bad way and those welds would likely be rusting VERY quickly no matter how much paint you throw over them. Hit them with a wire brush and grind smooth, then clean with acetone, vinegar etc. Not sure how much you know about welding or anything I just wanted to throw you a tip from experience. I would have kept my original doors too.

just a 22re 05-27-2008 05:58 PM

about the seats

yeah there 1990 mitsu eclipse GSX seats i took them out when i sold the car and yes they bolt in kinda the back bolts are good but you have to weld in the front mounts thats the first mod i really ever did to my rig and boy are they comfy!!!

just a 22re 05-27-2008 06:04 PM

and yes i still do have my sr5 doors there in the shed and yeah i did ground down the welds so there nice and smooth then rewelded the bad spots and grinded some more and now i clean them up real nice and throw a coat of bondo on them and on my luch at work tomorrow ill be sanding them down and seeing how they look from there i do have some update pictures but im a lil lazy ill be takeing more tomorrow so ill just post them all up then and yes i still do have the door panels and yes there going back on and im going to cut them so they fold over the top part to protect them a lil more sorry i just didnt get to it fast enough you beat me to it lovmeye22re lol
