1st time rebuild, getting started help? Las Vegas

Ok, so I've got a 22re that I've taken completely apart. I've got an engnbldr master rebuild kit. I've got the rods re-rounder/mic'd and the new pistons installed. WHAT'S NEXT?

I know I need to:

- get the block "?diped?" to clean and get rid of the surface rust
- cylinders honed
- crank polished

Is there anything else I should be doing before I get started with the putting the lower end back together?

Also, I've been looking for a good machine shop in the Vegas area for the above work. The one place I found closed as soon as my parts got here. Anyone know of a place?

Thanks.

If this is your first rebuild I would recommend taking all the internals and the block and head to a trust worthy machine shop, have them mic everything for you, have the block dipped its cheap and will save you time, if your using the original head have it checked as well. Make sure all parts are CLEAN inside and out. Pay attention to your torque specks and dont get in a rush. Theres tons of good info around here and lots of people willing to help.

Since you already installed the pistons and crank, I would hope you checked piston to cylinder fit, ring end gap and bearing clearances, If you did all that it's just a matter of putting the rest back together, I would guess you had the valves ground and the head resurfaced already, if not that needs to be done. You'll have to remove the pistons and crank before the block is cleaned, and you'll have to replace the expansion plugs, as they will be eaten up by the cleaning.
