Thanks MotocrossAddict, Apparently those came with some of the first gen models. At least I am assuming that because I got these off an 88 4x4 toy pickup. But dude, they sell those online. It's also an addition like this. I know for a fact I seen them online. And they only cost like $4 each I think. I forget. But I know I've seen them online.

hmm well i might just have to order some. My issue is the p/o lost or didnt like the little screws that hold on the wipers so he used tiny zip ties. I onlt have one actual screw holding both of them on, 3 zip ties. And the plastic pieces that hold the wiper bend so the blades dont sit right. Im definitely going to pick up those j hook thingymabobos. But i guess first i have to find little screws like that.

Hey MCA, .... those screws? SAME screws on the rear wiper detection switch.... (the part bolted to the rear wiper arm that's like a metal space shuttle looking thing that makes contact with the housing ON the shell????? SAME SCREWS.. Just hit the yard, YOU WILL find some if there's any 1st ORRRRRR 2nd Gen 4Runners(Yep, 2nd Gen 4Runners have the SAME "window wiper detection switch" in them.... They wont allow the rear window to go DOWN when the wiper is not completely back up into the housing on the shell/roof in the case of 2nd Gens.
While the front wipers don't often have the screws in the yard... THE REAR WIPER GROUND KNOB thing usually does... AND, those clips from that wiper can work too! They don't have the same length, but the rest of it is the same.

those J arm adapter thingees are off a 93 infiniti J 30.
i spent an afternoon googling and eventually, it led to that:
and of course:
http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto...ml?3593=278973
it's actually a bosch part and i then spent another sunday going through pep boys, napa, o reilly and a couple local indie car parts stores and they dont sell it.
now, if you have O REILLY store close by, they sell the old school blade with that J arm adapter. the weird part is that they sell 3 different 17" wiper arm variations. and only one comes with it.
the wiper arm costs like $9 each and if you need a new wiper arm anyways, might as well get it. it is the TRICO wiper arm. so look inside the package to make sure the adapter is in it...

My old truck used to have those. They worked good.

I have cannibalized my '90 for the '85s wipers right now but it would be nice if they could both run at the same time. Any sources besides junkyards (which don't have any 1st gens in the northeast)?

Found this and another topic regarding upgrading wiper arms after a google search on how to upgrade to the hook style. Reason being that the wiper arms I bought didn't fit the bar.
I have a 88 pickup xcab v6. I tried wiper arms off of a 93 pickup, but they didn't have enough clearance. What I ended up getting was off of a T100 (not sure of the year), and were in pretty good shape, just scuffed and hit with rust reformer which gave it a nice matte black look.
Haven't driven with them in the rain yet, but tested at high speed, and no clearance issues at the post or anywhere else running stock blades (17). Which is weird seeing how they are longer.

Update from the rain test, I might have to adjust where they start off at or maybe go to 16 blades. Taps the stupid chrome molding on the drivers side.
Only real advice I can pass is hopefully the junkyard where you look, has an older yota to test on, makes it easier to play around with whatever. Also check the splines on the inside of the wiper arms to make sure they aren't worn/stripped.
