My rear window goes up and down just fine if not slightly slow. However it has rubbed away the tint (aftermarket) and the defroster strips. Anyone kow the most likely worn part that could be the cause of allowing it to do this? I dont want to repair either the tint or defroster if its just going to get rubbed away again. Im guessing there might be a plastic trak it slides in somewhere in there that has worn away but havent disassembled to investigate yet. Thanks for anyone with forknowledge

x2 on the 4crawler site. I completely took apart my rear window about a couple of weeks ago.

From what you have described, it sound's like either the vertical, rubber runners in the tailgate may be binding due to a misaligned regulator or the slider mechanism which pushes/pulls the glass up and down is not moving freely. There may also be binding in the runner assembly that is part of the body of the truck (not the runners in the tailgate).

The rubber weather strip on the inside has probably gotten hard and is wearing against the glass. It's easy to check. Just flex it with your fingers. It should be soft and rubbery. It should only be touching the glass very lightly.

Dried out and hardend window runs. Keep them lubed with silicone spray.

I vote the weatherstrip. That's the only thing that area (the one wearing) comes in contact with at all.



Do you mean the runs towards the sides or those strips running horizontal 'cross the top of the gate?

Do them all, especially the sides ones. The silicone will soak in, keeps them soft and pliable. But youra may be too late, all hard and dried out. But the silicone will still aid in the windown going up and down. The extra load wears out the electric motor bushing quick. Soon, no amount of silicone will speed it up.
