Is there anything I should know about putting a 94 auto 4x4 trans w/transfer case into a 93 auto 4x4 4runner?

From what I have been told it should fit fine

I am not sure.

Did both transmissions come from the same engine type? (i.e. 22R-E transmission vs. 3VZ-E transmission)

Well, the best way is to check what the code of each tranny and transfer case is. If they are the same, there is your answer, if they are different then post the combinations here and we can help you then.

They're probably both A340H's, in which case they "should" bolt right up.

So, as Gevo says, you need to find out WHICH transmissions you have. For a stock vehicle, it's on the door pillar. I don't know where to find it ON the transmission, but I doubt it is that hard to find.
