1990 4runner rear coil lift questions
OK so I have a 90 4runner with ball joint spacer's and coil spacers this lift got me by for two years. To replace that I have a Trail Gear 4" IFS Eliminator kit at home with a freshly rebuilt 1985 axle. So I got the front covered in the lift department but I couldn't afford to get a rear kit at the same time. So I need a fix for the rear until I can afford to get the rear on leafs. I have seen a lot of rigs with the factory rear link systems beefed up. I bought some FJ80 coils but I dont have any idea what kind of height they will give me. So if I have tall enough springs with longer upper and lower link arms, and a pan-hard drop bracket. Will this set up work? Who out there is running a beefed up factory rear set up and what do you have? Any info will help I am ready to start cutting ifs off and I would like to get the rear lifted at the same time.

Maybe so.
But I can say I have not read even one post during my time here about someone converting the rear axle from coils to leafs. I've been around here for a year now and what I read in the forum is custom trailing arms / 4 link, etc.
Maybe I don't get out enough?

the cruiser coils will net you about 3-4" of rear lift... 904runner just did the TG elimenator i believe and hes still running the factory rear ende with no beef and cruiser coils...
also, if your looking into building a 4link, member tc built and has a writeup of how he did his...

I know I should go leafs in the rear but I just dont have the cash yet. I have done some investigating and would like to run Chevies but I dont know the right set up to get the height to match. I will have to do a write up on what ever it is i do. I will still take any advice on the rear set up? Thanks

well if you know anyone who does metal work you can get them to make you spacers for your coils in the rear or if you are really desperate they have these lil 2in rubber things that go in between your springs to spread it out ( I wouldn't go that route ) .
