I just picked up a 1972 gmc pickup with a 400, dana 60 front corprate 14 rear, turbo 400 tranny 205 transfer case. i am getting ready to swap all of it into my 4runner. what does everybody think?:welder:

Sounds like fun :welder:

ya it dynoed at 400hp it should be fun having almost 3 times the power lol

Should be awesome I think ill be happy with my 4.3 but it would be sick to have power like that someday. Frames gonna need to be beefed up thats for sure and that motors gonna be heavy. Your going links up front right?

run4her 09-09-2008 03:47 PM

i dont think the motor will be a whol lot heavier than before.

that motor is one of the best ones that chevy ever made...
i have a 78 GMC with the 400 bored 30 over with vortec head, and RPM intake, and a holley 750cfm carb all backed by a turbo 700R4... doesnt make quite as much power as yours, but it will be a great combo for trail use... i can bark all 4 tires through every shift point...
one thing to note tho, is that if you dont need the 400, then the 350 will be a better option as it is a bit lighter, and can handle the power...
just my 2cents
