1987 toyota 4x4 how to get wheel bearing nut off??????

So I'm changing my rotors. Got everthing apart. I turned the wheel bearing nut a couple turns and now its getting tighter? Am I doin somethin wrong or with all the crud is it jammed? I'm confused any help greatly appreciated. Thanx

Should be an external retaining clip on the axle in all that gunk. Your nut might be tightening against that if you did not remove it.

There is a lock nut and an adjusting nut. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...15componen.pdf You must first open the lock washer, remove the lock nut, and then remove the adjusting nut. If you start turning the lock nut without doing the rest, you'll just turn the pair of nuts until they jam.

Sometimes over the course of it`s life the threads may have been damaged as the nut starts to come off.

I have seen this quite a few times if all the above have been done.

X2 on this. There have been plenty of times that I had to use my hub socket with a ratchet to get it off as the threads were damaged. And other times, I was able to simply turn I off
