1986 4runner FSM or Wiring Diagram
I'm trying to find a FSM for an '86 4runner or at least a wiring diagram. I've got some burnt wires in the main harness that goes over the steering column and am trying to figure out what they went to. I believe the PO cut the factory stereo wires and then taped them all together. The main wire that's burned up is a ground that has actually had its insulator burned off all the way to the ground point behind the drivers side kick panel. I believe that it originated from the part of the harness that drops down just above the parking brake and feeds the stereo and a large white pin connector. I think this is a diagnostics plug but I'm not sure.

I would have to say there was a nonfused wire in there and it somehow got shrted and fried all the wiring it was connected to is my thinking but I could be wrong. Just makes sense to me.

I know this is an old thread but i am also looking for a FSM for my 86 4runner. I have a chilton but i am not relally impressed with it. I am also new to the forum and have been looking around on here for info on my "new to me" project. It is a bone stock 86 runner with the 22re and auto trans. It needs a lot of help and im hoping i can get it going without too much trouble.

I do not like Chilton at all. I found my 85 FSM on ebay for $25 several years ago. The axle is about the only difference between 85 and 86. There is a way to get an online version of the manual using "Way Back" on the Google search and putting in the date from about 5 years ago. I have done it but it takes me a while to do it.

I also had an '86--I was never able to find one for that year, but it is the same as the '87. Links to downloadable FSMs are here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f128...-years-156128/
PM me if the link is dead and I can email you an attachment.
