190 hp 3.0 V-6 from CHS Machine 210 Torq

The above chart was the dyno report from their original build. The power is from the hot cam and the reworked heads. Purchased their proline rebuilt $1995 with seven year 70,000 mile warranty. They are promising a lot of new ponies with this build. Will post later about how the install goes and then report on how this new dog barks.

Right on! I've been wanting for somebody to pick one of those up and test it out. Very curious if it's worth it. My gut tells me it's a good deal. And I'm assume you'll be happy with it. An engine is just one of those things I don't want any part of unless it came straight from the OEM factory or I built it myself. Too many idiots "think" they know what they're doing.

Anyhow, I hope all goes well. Honestly. It's entirely possible I might consider buying one too. IF I don't run into any reports of dissatisfaction in the mean time.

So far at least CHS has been great to deal with... Engine ready for pick up on Tuesday of next week. Says they do about 200 units / year and have never had a problem. The Ebay seller rating is high and they have had 11 complaints filedith BBB over 15 years and most of these are resolved. No indications of any problems... will go over the warranty thoroughly with them so we are both clear on how the install and break in is going to go down. Now hopefully that fifth gear will have more value

CHS quickly approved the engine core for rebuild and refunded the $500 core deposit on my credit card. Had to drive (three hours return) twice into Portland to pick up pieces missed on the old block (long block was recieved without a side water port cap) and they missed a cam dowel and most of the studs and oil pan bolts. My mistake was don't give up your core until you are sure you have all the bits). I wanted to compare old and new block side by side but my old block went in the back shop door and the new long block came out the front door and the shop mamager chased me out for safety insurance reasons. Small stuff....been fighting down some engine codes but basically the 92 4x4 Yoda runs like a bat out of hell. So far at least would recommend this shop with out any hesitation. This bitch rocks and i'm groovin on it!

Nice!

Sounds like you're about twice as far as I am from P-town. Takes me 45 min. one-way(haulin' balls-out).

Take me for a spin....better yet, I'll race ya in my 98 Monte Carlo!

3.1L SFI V6 160 HP 185 FT-LB Curb Weight ~3300 lbs.(pulls hard all the way to the governor @ 105 mph, thank you NASCAR pedigree for the aerodynamics involved in that!)

Whatta ya say to that?

So its $1,995 before or after the core?

Can you tell us the process more? If this thing is as awesome as it sounds i might just do that than a 3.4 swap!

Truck was originally from Boise Idiho (desert dry with absolutely no rust on frame and body) ... will have to cut the sun fade off the paint with a compound and will post pics at some point. l do not know what the 3.4 swap experience is, but I am very happy with this 190 hp head cam option. Been doing some runs up the columbia valley clearing codes and the negbors are remarking about that K&N air filter exhuast pipe growel. This has put some serious Yo in the 3.0 slow Yoda!

The 190 Hp engine costs $1995.00 after they confirm your core is rebuidable...They charge you the $500 core charge unitll they inspect your core... in my case they just looked at the bottom end (was not smoking) and they said i was good to go.

more info on the process of say i want to do this as well if u can. also long term updates would be nice. im sure my 3.0 will go out soon and it seems like a less of a headache to just rebuild or do what you did instead of going 3.4swap

personally I would love to see some pics of this thing.

that being said, it is nice to have found another local/reliable source in case I need a long block for my '81. price is not too bad with a $300 core
