16" Wheel Tire Size 90' Pickup 4WD

So, I bought a set of 16" 4runner wheels and I need help deciding on tire size. I have a 90' 4wd Pickup ext and I'm averaging 19mpg and power isn't too bad for the 3.0. I want to keep it that way as much as posible. I understand that I bought a 16" wheel versus a 15". I'm trying to decide between a 265/70/16 or a 265/75/16 A/T tire. Also, I'm looking at less aggressive A/T tires on the matket.

1. Will I have to change gearing regardless of the two tire sizes to maintain mpg and power?
2. Do you have any other tire size suggestions that would work?
3. If I change gearing, can I do the rear first and do the front later(I will NOT use the 4wd while they are mismatched)

I run 235-85-16s' on my 95 Runner with 4.56 gears

You don't say what gears you are running now.

They are a little taller than 31" and somewhat narrower.

You could do one gear-set at a time, if you NEVER engage 4 wheel drive.

It would be safest to remove the front driveshaft until both gear-sets are made the same.

Thanks for all the help. The tire size comparison link h really helped. I also found a tire size/gear ratio calculator on the same site that have me all the information I need. I definately will need 4.56 gears.

Here is the link for tire/gear ratio calculator for anyone who stumbles across this thread.
