Does your gas tank look like this?

Does your rear diff look like this?

Now if you are still not sure take out the rear pinion seal and compare it to a new one?

Yep, I think it was toast and needed replacing.

Took all of 30 minutes and no more leaking.

Jeez. I wish mine only took me 30 minutes. Mine was so seized in there I had to cut it out with a dremel and mini cutting wheel thing. I tried to muscle it out before. Took me nearly 3 hours to finally get it out!!

it takes 30min when you have air, impact gun, impact sockets, seal puller, seal driver, AC or heat, Regular visits from the Snap On tool truck etc. etc. etc.

what? How would air tools make it so much faster. All you gotta do is drop the shaft, take off the flange and theres the seal. What was a PITA was the seal itself!:bah:

Thanks. Everybody has to start somewhere. I started with a small tool box, a welder and a Makita angle grinder. :D

if your pinion bearings are toast it will leak again i have replaced mine like three times in the last year now wile waiting to get my new thirds with 4.56 and my aussie in.just kept puttin new seals in to keep the oil down.gear oil mixed with mud is the hardest crap to get off.
plus the crappa seals suck. i can definetly see the diference in the oem seal.imo

Diffs will have 5.29s soon regardless but it was a simple fix for now as the seal was clearly OLD OLD OLD. :D
