Do you hear any noise? It could be the starter is fried.

Can't you do this trick to try and get it to turn over? Wow, ok, first things first, how much do you know about working on vehicles yourself? Start by making sure the engine is free. Put a socket and wrench on the crank pully and attempt to turn the engine by hand. Preferably clock wise. If it's an auto, make sure the trans is in neutral. Pull off your coil plug wire (on the coil side) to make sure the thing doesn't start on you as well. Personally I don't like testing starters using jumper cables to make direct power from battery. Too many things can go wrong. Take it out and have it tested. |
All that did was show that you have spark at the starter. If the starter solenoid has gone nuts, then it won't engage, and thus not turn the truck over. That or the ignition switch could be malfunctioning.

Well, it shows you have some voltage/amperage in the battery. It doesnt indicate how much, but whatever...
I'm not gonna tell you how to do the "screwdriver on the solenoid terminal to positive terminal on the starter motor" trick. I'll let someone else get ragged on if they tell you. I would remove the starter, take it to get tested along with the battery, at your lcal parts store. Its free usually. But I wouldn't buy one from the chain stores, except Napa has decent electrical parts. All this AFTER you make sure the engine isnt seized. |

I recently purchased a 1984 Toyota Pickup from some d bag, he told me it had a blown head gasket. I figured no problem, should still be able to turn over. Well when I try to start it, nothing happens what so ever. The lights come on, but nothing else, just acts like I'm not even turning the key.
What could be the problem!?!? Thanks. - http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...shtml#EasyTest |
