Will this mint ‘84 4Runner break $20k?
Great looking well-kept rig, bidding going pretty high already with 4 days left!
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...a-4runner-4x4/ Whats the highest you’ve seen a first gen 4runner sell for? For me it was a red 1986 that went for $17.5k on BaT. |
As nice as it is, I think the color(s) may hold that one back.

I very much like the color, it's an 84-85 only color. But I think the paint being faded and sun burnt may effect the value. Some may say a repaint might negatively effect the value, but I don't think there are enough purists buying these trucks that it would matter.
Currently at $15,250 with 3 days to go... place your bets.... |
is it just me or does that thing have the incorrect valve cover for an 84? like it has an 83 and earlier engine
I know my 84 X-tra cab that I bought in 91 did not have the sloped valve cover |
It's pretty, but I don't really know what its good for. No carbureted 4x4 can match an EFI one.
To get any reliable and controllable power off camber, you have to go propane on a previously carbureted rig. |

Its nice but I dont think I could talk myself into paying that much for that many little problems. Especially the paint

That is the correct valve cover (and engine). The squared valve cover didn't come until Toyota released the "late" version of the 22R / 22R-E for the 1985 model year.

You probably have a late 84 truck. Sometimes you find weird little things like that cross over.
